United Way Joins Dave & Buster’s to Honor Camden Youth

Give & Take: UW Gives Camden Youth A Day of Fun at D&B For Taking Initiative

CAMDEN, N.J. - United Way of Camden County (UWCC), courtesy of Dave & Buster’s (D&B), provided 20 participants from The Work Group with a Day of Fun in support of enhancing the lives of inner-city Camden youth attempting to lift themselves out of poverty with dignity through hard work and active participation in community services.

This is UWCC’s way of providing kid-friendly and care-free fun for those youth organizations who otherwise couldn’t afford incentives encouraging participants to continue their attempts of achieving personal goals by expanding the learning opportunities available to them, guiding the way to a future full of hope.

D & B’s Executives (who prefer to remain anonymous) provided a private lunch, and 4 hours of unlimited gaming access to youth in support of UWCC’s mission to helping youth pursue a better life. The kids graciously thanked UWCC and D & B for a wonderful and fun-filled day.  “We enjoyed a great meal and had a fun time playing the games,” Yesenia Rivera shared as she left with prizes won in the Midway game room.

United Way of Camden County is a nonprofit organization that improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community.  With the help of local celebrities, residents, service providers, volunteers, and businesses, we achieve results that impact our community’s most pressing issues.

Santa Delivers Camden County Employee A Brand New

2007 Ford Escape Hybrid SUV

Car was incentive for Participation in United Way’s Annual Giving Campaign

Camden, NJ – Judith Giumetti, Office Manager of the Administrative Services Department at Camden County College (Blackwood Campus), received an early Christmas present from Santa Claus himself on behalf of United Way of Camden County (UWCC) this morning.

Santa, otherwise known as Michael Moynihan, CEO and President of United Way of Camden County, delivered the news that Giumetti would be receiving a brand new 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid SUV. Judith received the keys to the SUV from United Way Director of Major Gifts, Bruce Moehler, in front of her co-workers on Friday, December 15th at Camden County College in Blackwood.

Judith was one of several thousand people who pledged a chance to win the Ford Escape Hybrid SUV, which was generously provided by Holman Automotive as an incentive to increase giving to this year’s UWCC campaign and the Public Employee campaign.

“My youngest son has already put in his request that the vehicle be an early Christmas present to him, and I joked back ‘I don’t think so’,” Judith said. “I have to admit, I was surprised by the call from Santa this morning. I never thought I’d actually win the car.” Judith and her husband, Hector have been contributing to United Way of Camden County since the early 70’s. This is the first time that someone from Camden County College (Blackwood Campus) has won the car drawing.

United Way of Camden County is a non-profit organization that improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community. With the help of local experts, residents, service providers, volunteers, and businesses, we achieve results that impact our community’s most pressing problems.
